The first weekend of June is upon us and that summer heat is ready to soar us close to triple digits already.
A ridge of high pressure is expected to build into Louisiana from Texas as we move to the end of the week on into the weekend. At this time of year that means lower rain chances and higher heat levels.
Inland places away from bodies of water could possibly see afternoon highs top out in the low 100s by Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Those closer to the coast along I-10 will likely be a few degrees lower than that, in the middle to upper 90s.
These are actual air temperatures being foretasted. Once you factor in the humidity, heat indices could be near 110 during those peak heating hours.
It’s advisable to take heat precautions over the next several days which means taking frequent breaks indoors and staying hydrated.
