The wave train is in full effect!

We’re now in the peak of hurricane season, and just like that, mother nature has flipped the switch. We have numerous areas of activity to watch this month.

Powerful Hurricane Florence
Florence reached Category 4 strength earlier today, but since then has dropped back to a Category 3 hurricane. Florence is forecast to remain a powerful hurricane for many days to come. It’s still uncertain whether she’ll be a threat to the United States or not. Ridging in the Atlantic Ocean will set the stage for just how far west she can get, but all east coast residents should keep a close eye on her just to be safe.

Convection has increased tonight over 92L’s center. 92L’s forecast plots are also a bit uncertain, as many models and ensembles do indicate she may become a threat to the Lesser and Greater Antilles down the road, and possibly eventually the United States. Plenty of time to watch.

African Waves
Multiple waves across Africa will provide tropical trackers entertainment as well. Soon to be 93L will be exiting the African continent on Thursday, and will likely be yet another named storm to track. Behind it, another.

None of this is out of the ordinary as this is the peak of the season! However those first fall cool fronts should be only a few weeks away. To join in the discussion on all these systems, join us at!
