We had a large number of confirmed tornadoes in what seems to be our first, “real” tornado outbreak of spring 2019…16 confirmed tornadoes stretched from southwest Louisiana through southeast Louisiana. The strongest being an EF-2 in Ascension Parish which caused multiple injuries. While tornadoes are always possible in scenarios such as this, we’re sure this caught the surprise of many.
These tornadoes were spun off what once was INVEST 91L. They were tropical in nature and were mostly located on the “back side” of thunderstorms similar to as they are in landfalling tropical storms and hurricanes.
