Rain chances on the increase this week

Rain chances continue to go up this week, but in a positive note, that also means temperatures go down!

Radar was lit up pretty well today. A couple locations near Port Vincent as well as south of Pierre Part was able to pick up a quick 2 inches. A few severe storms affected central Louisiana and continue into parts of southwest Louisiana this evening. These storms will continue over the next couple hours.

As we move into the work week, showers and thunderstorms will be possible each day. Some of the storms may contain gusty winds, dangerous lightning and heavy rainfall.

The heaviest rains should occur from southeast Louisiana across through the Florida panhandle. We’re expecting 2 to 3 inches over the next 3 to 5 days. No widespread severe weather is expected at this time.

On another positive note, there are no signs of tropical activity as we move into August.
