The National Hurricane Center is highlighting a strong tropical wave in the far east Atlantic. They are giving it a 40% chance of development over the next 5 days. A quick model run through indicates it does have support from the GFS, Canadian, UKMET and even the European model. However, at this time, the future of this possible storm and its forecast track is highly uncertain.
Regardless, the southeastern United States should monitor through the coming week in case this does pose a threat down the road.
With a disturbance this far out in the basin, nothing is a given so you can be sure we’ll continue to keep an eye on its future. Locally, we currently have zero tropical threats in the Gulf.
