Extreme heat is building in Texas this week and the weather pattern could possibly allow for that heat to spill into Louisiana by this weekend.
Triple digit highs are already showing up in Oklahoma and Texas and as this ridge of high pressure expands eastward high temperatures could soar into the upper 90s to low 100s across the state.
As the pattern shifts throughout the work week, there will be the potential to see some intense thunderstorms as the state will remain on the border of the storm track over the eastern United States and the strong high pressure anchored over Texas.
Since the flow will be coming out of the north, any storms that do develop during the intense heating of the day could be strong to severe with deadly lightning and gusty winds being the greatest threats.
By the weekend, rain chances may drop off considerably as the highs really begin to soar. Heat indices are likely to approach 110 degrees, especially over inland areas, which could mean Heat Advisories are likely to be issued.
