The dangerous heat levels from the weekend will subside a bit over the course of the upcoming work week as the ridge of high pressure in control begins to break down.
Expect the first step in this process to occur on Monday as a weak front slides into Louisiana from the north. This could lead to a chance for pop up storms to return to the forecast, some of which could be severe in nature.
The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted South LA in a slight risk area on Monday due to the threat that these storms could produce damaging winds, hail and deadly lightning.
Even with the increasing rain chances, highs will still manage the mid 90s for the start of the week before falling back into the low 90s by midweek and beyond.
