Harvey heads inland, Irma to be next hurricane

Tropical Storm Harvey continues to dump tremendous amounts of rainfall along its path inland across western Louisiana.

The storm is accelerating northeast which should limit rainfall totals as the system becomes a non-tropical low pressure over the Mid-South.

Our eyes now turn towards newly developed Tropical Storm Irma located over the far east Atlantic off the coast of Africa. Current forecasts indicate Irma may quickly strengthen into a hurricane, possibly our next major of the season.

As for where this will go, it’s way too early to even have an idea if this system is destined for land impacts or if it will just head out to sea. Those in the Caribbean islands will be the first to monitor the progress of this storm.
