Gulf Coast residents should begin preparations for possible hurricane impact

INVEST 91L declared to an area of disturbed weather in the northwest Caribbean.

The National Hurricane Center is now up to a high risk for a tropical system to form in the Gulf/Caribbean over the next few days. Models are coming into better agreement on a tropical storm/hurricane threat to the Gulf Coast come mid next week.

All areas from the central Louisiana coast to the western Florida panhandle should go over their hurricane plans as model guidance continues to latch onto our next storm. With upper level winds becoming favorable over the Gulf next week, confidence is increasing we will be seeing a hurricane threat to the Gulf Coast…where is the question. Cat 1 or 2 looks highly possible at this time, and we can even not fully rule out a Cat 3.
