Catastrophic Maria engulfs Puerto Rico

Hurricane Maria made landfall in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico as a 155 mph Category 4 hurricane Wednesday morning.

Maria continues inland and now has engulfed the entire island of Puerto Rico in hurricane force conditions.

Wind gusts to 120 mph have already been reported along with significant flooding. Communications across the island continue to be lost so reports are becoming sparse.

The good news for Puerto Rico is as the storm continues across the island, significant weather conditions will abate by Wednesday afternoon. That will unfortunately just be the start of a long recovery process.
