Atlantic disturbance likely to become next storm this week

A new tropical depression or tropical storm is expected to develop in the open Atlantic later this week.

The National Hurricane Center has labeled a disturbance located between the Caribbean and the coast of Africa as an area to monitor for tropical development. This system has been labeled Invest 94L and has a high chance of development within the next 5 days.

If a new named storm was to develop, the next name on the list is Don.

Considering the location of development is far out over the open ocean, any form of track is way too early to speculate on. A general west to west-northwest motion will continue through the end of this week.

One thing to note is the earlier the storms develop before approaching the Caribbean the better the chances a storm has to recurve out to sea.
