After the warm up of this week, old man winter is making another plunge south toward the gulf coast. The initial shot will occur Thursday night into Friday morning. Inland areas will experience freezing temperatures, however a secondary, strong surge of arctic air will arrive on Tuesday, making Wednesday and Thursday mornings the coldest of the stretch.
Full precautions will be needed for Wednesday and Thursday of next week as wide spread hard freezes are expected. Lows should bottom out in the low to mid 20’s for most areas, however farther inland, a few teens can be expected.
Remember…full precautions mean protect your pipes, plants, people and pets.
As far as precipitation, there is a slight chance of a wintry mix for an area extending across east Texas through central Louisiana and possibly even southern Mississippi.
