Severe Weather Outbreak likely today in north Louisiana and Arkansas

The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has upgraded today’s severe weather event to a Moderate Risk.  The highest threat area exists from around Shreveport through Arkansas to just north of Little Rock.

Activity in this area will pick up later this afternoon into tonight.  Numerous tornadoes will be possible with some being strong.  There is also the threat of very large hail along with a pretty significant threat for damaging winds.

This weather is the precursor to tomorrow’s weather down south in our local region.  If you have friends or family members in north Louisiana and/or Arkansas, especially in the red shaded area, please give them a call and make sure they’re weather ready.   This could be the first significant severe weather outbreak of the season.

Today’s risk as of 8:00am CST:
