New storm likely to become Maria , watches issued for Lesser Antilles

Potential Tropical Cyclone 15 has developed east of the Lesser Antilles and is expected to become Tropical Storm Maria within the next day.

A Tropical Storm Watch has already been posted for portions of the Lesser Antilles which is the same chain of islands that was ravaged by Major Hurricane Irma.

Intensification into a hurricane is expected as the storm passes through the islands early next week before possibly taking aim at Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. All residents with interests in these locations should closely monitor this system.

We are still multiple days away from any impact to the U.S. East Coast or Gulf Coast so many things can and will change between now and then. It’s best to just continue to monitor the latest progress of this system.
