Following a period where the National Hurricane Center designated Invest 90L as a potential tropical cyclone, enough organization has occurred to allow for an upgrade to Tropical Storm Franklin.
Franklin is expected to continue to organize and strengthen on Monday before moving into the Yucatan Peninsula by Monday night.
Once Franklin reemerges in the far southwest Gulf or Bay of Campeche on Tuesday, quick strengthening into possibly our first hurricane is not out of the question. In fact, the National Hurricane Center states that a hurricane is probable just as it nears a final landfall along the Mexican coastline.
All track guidance remains clustered on a track into Mexico following the trip over the Yucatan. The only concern for the U.S. Gulf Coast would be increased wave heights later this week.
