Franklin is over the very warm waters of the Bay of Campeche and is restrengthening following a weakening trend as it tracked across the Yucatan on Tuesday.
Conditions remain favorable for Franklin to strengthen up until landfall which is expected to occur between Veracruz and Tampico, Mexico on Thursday morning.
Hurricane warnings have been posted for portions of the Mexican coastline by the National Hurricane Center.
The Bay of Campeche, although relatively small, is notorious for rapidly strengthening storms due to having some of the warmest water in the entire Atlantic basin.
