Hurricane Harvey makes landfall in Texas, gusts to 131 mph reported
Hurricane Harvey made landfall about 4 miles east of Rockport, Texas as an intense Category 4 hurricane with winds of 130 mph winds.
Some of the strongest wind reports at the time of landfall were: Aransas Pass 131 mph, Port Aransas 109 mph, Corpus Christi 69 mph.
The forward motion has now slowed to 7 mph and a stall is expected within the next 24 hours.
Harvey is the first Category 4 hurricane to make landfall in the United States since Charley in 2004 and the first in Texas since Carla in 1961.
