It’s nothing new for this time of year but the heat continues to build along the Gulf Coast as most areas are now in the danger category.
Heat indices between 105-110 degrees have been widespread this afternoon, especially in the locations that have avoided any cooling rainfall.
The major culprit for this increase in temperatures has been the lack of rain the past few days. Remember though, more heat means that if storms do develop they can be quite intense.
Thankfully the trend into the weekend is for more storms which should back the heat off some.
Stay hydrated, take frequent breaks and avoid the outdoors during those peak heating hours of the afternoon.
