Heat advisories go up for the first time this summer

Yes, it’s always hot during summer in the South but the abundance of storms this year has kept that heat a bit more bearable.

Usually we can rate how hot summer has been by the amount of times we go under heat related advisories and warnings.

For the first time this summer, a Heat Advisory has been issued for nearly the entire state of Louisiana.

This means that heat indices are expected to reach 105-110 degrees for an extended period of time during the peak heating hours of the afternoon the next few days.

Precautions should always be taken in our heat and humidity but the next few days these conditions could become a bit more dangerous. Make sure you avoid the outdoors during the afternoon hours, take frequent breaks and stay hydrated even when not doing strenuous activities.
