Harvey forecasted to be a major hurricane at Texas landfall

The National Hurricane Center track as of 10 a.m. is now forecasting Harvey to become a Major Hurricane before making landfall on Friday.

Winds have been increased to 115 mph at time of landfall making Harvey a Category 3 storm.

It has been 4,322 days since the last major struck the United States coastline which was Wilma in South Florida back on October 24, 2005. A major hurricane is a Category 3 storm of higher.

This unprecedented streak could come to an end on Friday if Harvey continues to strengthen at the rate it currently is.
