Harvey could be named later today

Invest 91L has been labeled as Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine as it continues to organize itself just east of the Lesser Antilles.

The National Hurricane Center has started to issue advisories on what will likely become Harvey over the coming days. A hurricane hunter aircraft is scheduled to investigate the system later today.

For now, the forecast continues this storm on a westerly track through the Caribbean before it approaches the Yucatán by early next week. Intensity forecast confidence is very low right now as some models show strengthening to a hurricane while other models dissipate the system altogether.

All model guidance keeps a westerly heading going for the next week which should keep future Harvey from turning into the Gulf. One must note this is still multiple days away and track errors can be quite large in this timeframe.
